Cultivating Change: AFT's Commitment to Policy Advocacy

At African Farmers Talk (AFT), we understand that sustainable and equitable agricultural development goes beyond equipping farmers with knowledge and tools. It requires robust, farmer-centered policies that prioritize their needs and empower them to thrive. This is why AFT champions policy advocacy as a vital arm of our mission.

Our advocacy efforts focus on:

Building a Strong Farmer Voice:

  • Enabling farmers to participate actively in policy discussions:We facilitate farmer forums, consultations, and capacity building programs to equip farmers with the skills and confidence to articulate their needs and advocate for their interests.
  • Amplifying farmer voices: We leverage our platform and communication channels to amplify farmer voices and ensure their concerns are heard by policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • Building strategic partnerships: We collaborate with other civil society organizations, research institutions, and government agencies to strengthen the collective voice of farmers and advocate for policy changes.

Promoting Farmer-Centered Policies:

  • Advocating for policies that address key challenges: We focus on advocating for policies that address critical issues like access to markets, land tenure security, climate-resilient agriculture, and gender equality in agriculture.
